Thank You, Neil — Celebrating a Founder’s Legacy at Terrain Surveys
After more than two decades at the heart of Terrain Surveys, our former Director and one of the company’s founders, Neil Armstrong, has retired — closing an important chapter in our story and beginning an exciting new one overseas.
From Terrain’s earliest days through to its growth into a respected, multi-disciplinary surveying consultancy, Neil has played a defining role in shaping the company’s direction, culture and commitment to delivering high-quality service to clients.
Neil’s Parting Words
After twenty-two years with Terrain Surveys, Neil stepped back from the business in early 2026 to begin a new chapter overseas. Reflecting on his time with the company, he said:
“After twenty-two years at Terrain Surveys, the time has come for me to step back and begin a new chapter. From January 2026, I’ll be retiring from the business and heading overseas for some new adventures.
Being part of Terrain from the very beginning has been incredibly special. I’m immensely proud of what the team has built over the years — and of the many young surveyors who joined us and grew into skilled professionals and true ambassadors for the company, dedicated to producing a quality service to all our clients.
I want to personally thank our clients, partners, suppliers and colleagues for their continued support. The role each of you has played in Terrain’s success cannot be overstated, and the relationships formed along the way will stay with me for many years to come.
I leave knowing the business is in great hands with Graham, Nic and John, and I wish them every success as they continue to grow Terrain and deliver the high-quality surveying services our clients rely on.”
A Message from the Business
John Lane, current Director at Terrain Surveys and one of the company’s co-founders alongside Neil, added:
“Since the early days of starting the business, Neil has offered professionalism, unwavering support and overcome the many challenges of growing the successful business that we are today.
We wish Neil a long, fulfilling, and well-deserved retirement, filled with new adventures, plenty of golf, and pride in knowing that the Terrain Surveys team has a bright future in capable hands.”
