Topographical, Utility and CCTV surveys – Bank House, Milton Keynes

Overview

Originally built in the 1980s Bank House was once the Milton Keynes home to some prestigious banks. The office block is currently undergoing demolition and the developers needed a comprehensive set of surveys to get a clear picture of the site, especially where all the utilities are located.

A clear picture will enable to developers to begin the construction of over 350 new apartments on the site.

Survey

Any project where more than one survey is required needs to be well planned and managed in order to coordinate the right people and equipment to be in the right place at the right time.

Demolition work adds another layer of complexity. Health and safety are always of paramount importance, but when there is demolition going on around when surveyors have to work, extra care and attention needs to be factored into the planning process.

First the Topographical Survey was completed on site whilst the building was still being demolished. This meant our surveyors had to safely operate around personnel on site to ensure all areas of the site could be safely and quickly surveyed.

The utility survey and CCTV survey was conducted the next day to ensure all drainage could be efficiently surveyed and any utilities could be traced both across site and the surrounding roads.

Results

Our management team have many years of experience coordinating different survey types taking place in complex sites like this one. They were able to lean on that experience to coordinate all the required surveyors to work safely and efficiently on this challenging demolition site.

They were able to provide accurate survey drawings of the site within the time frames of the project.
