Jack Sheldrake
Survey Manager
jack@terrainsurveys.co.uk“If there’s a problem on site, chances are I’ve seen it — or I know how to fix it.”
Jack Sheldrake joined Terrain Surveys when he was just 18 — fresh out of A-levels, not quite sure if he wanted university or work. So he did both. He started with us as a trainee surveyor, worked his way through his degree in Surveying & Mapping Sciences while learning on the job, and never looked back.
Twelve years later, Jack runs the day-to-day side of Terrain’s site work as Survey Manager. He’s the one making sure every survey team in the right place at the right time, projects stay on track, and if any issues arise, then they get sorted fast — whether that means a creative workaround or just plain old experience.
Jack spent years out in all weathers, all over the UK — which is exactly what drew him to surveying in the first place. These days, he’s swapped the M25 for the office, where he keeps the whole team on track and ensures that deadlines met. He’s the go-to for the surveyors when things get complicated, and the calm voice on the phone when clients need answers yesterday.
Ask him what bit of kit he still swears by and he’ll tell you: a tape measure. Sometimes the old ways are still the best. But he’s always looking ahead too — keen to see how rapid data capture, mobile mapping and AI can make the job faster without ever losing Terrain’s trusted standards.
Jack’s focus now is growing with Terrain as we expand into new tech and new territory — all while making sure our site teams keep delivering work to the standard that’s kept him here since day one.
