Early in that morning, Director John Lane, set off from Land’s End on the Deloitte Ride Accross Britain event, the UK’s iconic cycle ride, finishing up in John O’Groats. The 9 day event took in a total of 23 counties on a scenic 980 mile adventure taking in some stunning parts of England, Scotland and Wales. The fully supported journey is mapped out, had pit stops along the way, support for any medical or mechanical mishaps, a tent waiting at the end of each day and bags transported between base camps. John said “loved all of the cycling across Scotland, including two huge climbs in the Cairngorms. Also the second day across Devon was a particularly stunning route with great weather. I didn’t have too many problems with cycling 100 miles each day, but found the camping and trying to get organised in a little tent each day the bigger challenge.” John used the event to raise money for a local charity, JOCA, a local charity based at Welwyn Rugby Club that offers support to its members that are suffering with mental health problems. The charity was set up following the tragic death of two of its young playing members.
