What customers say about Terrain Surveys
Reviews
Terrain Surveys Ltd have carried out a first class service of locating a drain pipe under my garden. Particular praise must go to Gareth and Euan, the onsite operatives who performed a first class survey on an extremely hot day. Consideration and care was exercised in my and my neighbours garden. Praise must also go to Sue in the office. All requests and questions were quickly responded to. Thank you.

CCTV Drain Survey FAQ
FAQS
Typically our CCTV drain surveys cost from £499 +VAT. The price is affected by the scale of the pipe network that you want us to survey. We’ll give you an exact, no obligation quote once we know more about what you need. Get in touch.
If you’ve agreed to our quote, we’ll aim to get there as quickly as possible and at a time that works for you. We can do same day visits too but it depends on availability of our operatives.
Typically between 1-2 hours, but it depends on the size of the pipe network you want us to survey.
No. Normally, we just need to lift a manhole or access junction lid and send a camera down. Once we’re done, we’ll replace the lid. There shouldn’t be any digging needed unless the lid is buried.
Yes, absolutely. Many water authorities require a CCTV drain survey as part of a build-over application when construction work is planned near or over a public sewer. Our surveys are fully compliant with water authority standards. Just let us know when you speak to us.
It’s a good idea for you to be present, so you can discuss the drainage system with the surveyor, and to provide any access to the grounds where the access junction is located. Once we have the access we need you don’t need to be present.

Planning a building project in Hertfordshire?
If you’re planning to build over a sewer, many local water authorities (like Affinity Water) require a pre-build CCTV drain survey. Our surveys meet all water authority standards and are accepted as part of build-over applications. We also offer:
- Pre-adoption surveys for new developments
- Post-works validation to confirm proper installation
- Mapping and tracing for design and planning teams
