PAS 128 Utility Survey in Birmingham

Overview

Terrain Surveys were pleased to undertake this topographical survey and PAS 128 utility survey in Birmingham for our client, a Suffolk-based energy transition provider. The surveys were instructed to support a commercial redevelopment project and our team, based from our Rugby office, were to survey an area to the front of an office block, located a mile from the city centre.

The Survey

In order to deliver a PAS 128 utility survey, a topographical survey drawing is required in order to provide site context. All site features, both natural and man-made, such as trees, street furniture and building outlines were to be surveyed and drawn accordingly. Once the topographical survey was complete, and upon review of a desktop utility search which would identify services we could expect to encounter on-site, our utility survey team attended to undertake the PAS 128 utility survey.

Using both EML and GPR equipment, our utility survey were tasked with locating both metallic and non-metallic services, including electric cables to street lighting, drainage runs of 100mm diameter or greater and underground storage tanks, adhering to the PAS 128 standard. Once our teams had finished on-site, they returned to our Rugby office to review and process the data, ahead of delivery to the client.

The Result

Terrain Surveys are proud to have worked with numerous energy transition providers, particularly over recent years, and we were pleased to ensure the project was delivered to the agreed budget. As this was a live development project, the dates of the survey were subject to change, and we were happy to work with our client to meet their timescales. We delivered the topographical survey drawing in 2D DWG format, with the PAS 128 utility survey overlaid for clear site context.

Should you have a requirement for a topographical survey or a PAS 128 utility survey, Terrain Surveys would be pleased to assist and provide you with a bespoke quotation within 48 hours.
