Surveying and Investigation Works Across Four Separate Sites in North West London

Overview

Terrain Surveys was appointed to deliver a comprehensive programme of surveying and investigation works across four separate sites in North West London. The client required a wide range of information covering both the buildings and surrounding land, as well as the below-ground utilities and drainage infrastructure, to support the planning and design of future works.

With multiple survey disciplines required across several locations, effective coordination was essential. Rather than appointing and managing several individual suppliers, the client was able to utilise Terrain Surveys’ multi-disciplinary expertise to deliver the complete survey package through a single point of contact.

The project incorporated Measured Building Surveys, Topographical Surveys, Utility Mapping and CCTV Drainage Surveys, together with High-Pressure Water Jetting (HPWJ) where required to clear sections of the drainage network and facilitate camera access. This integrated approach enabled the client to build a comprehensive understanding of existing conditions across all four sites.

Survey

Working closely with the client, Terrain Surveys carefully planned and scheduled each element of the programme to minimise disruption to the day-to-day operation of the sites while ensuring all required information could be captured efficiently.

Our measured building and topographical survey teams recorded the buildings, surrounding land, levels and relevant site features to provide accurate information for the client’s design team. Detailed floor plans and building elevations were subsequently produced alongside comprehensive topographical drawings.

Below ground, our experienced utility surveyors mapped existing services across the sites, while our CCTV drainage specialists investigated the condition and connectivity of the drainage networks. Where access through the drainage system was restricted, High-Pressure Water Jetting was undertaken to remove obstructions and enable the CCTV equipment to progress through the network.

To maximise efficiency, the Utility Mapping and CCTV Drainage Survey teams worked concurrently wherever possible. Coordinating these disciplines allowed Terrain Surveys to reduce the overall time required on site while maintaining a comprehensive and consistent approach to data collection across the programme.

Results

The client received a complete and coordinated suite of survey information covering both above and below-ground assets across all four North West London sites. Deliverables included detailed topographical and utility drawings, floor plans, building elevations and comprehensive CCTV drainage reporting.

Bringing multiple survey disciplines together within a single coordinated programme provided the client with a much clearer understanding of the existing buildings, external areas, utilities and drainage infrastructure. This information now provides a reliable foundation for the planning and design of future works across the sites.

By coordinating specialist teams, undertaking multiple survey activities concurrently and providing a single point of contact throughout the project, Terrain Surveys was able to streamline the survey process and minimise disruption for the client.

The project demonstrates the value of Terrain’s integrated approach to surveying and consultancy — combining specialist services, experienced teams and coordinated data to provide clients with the complete picture they need to make informed project decisions.
