CCTV Foul Sewer Survey at Guy’s Hospital

Overview

Located in the heart of Southwark, Central London, Guy’s Hospital sits alongside the iconic Shard, just steps from Borough Market and a short walk across London Bridge. The hospital is a sprawling campus of interconnected buildings, including specialist wards, surgical theatres, research centres, and teaching facilities, serving thousands of patients, staff, and visitors every day.

The surrounding area is a bustling mix of pedestrians, commuters, and nearby office and residential developments, with constant activity on the streets.

Terrain Surveys were commissioned to carry out a CCTV survey of a Foul Water run.

Survey

With no previous survey data or information regarding the drainage run on Utility surveys or Desktop records, we were tasked with providing a condition and connectivity survey of the Foul water run.

We attended site within business hours at the request of the client. Manhole Barriers and a specialist Man Entry kit was used to ensure that there was minimal disruption and guarantee  that the site was safe for the public and our CCTV surveyors during this busy time.

Results

An area for which there was no previous data now has accurate data and more interestingly an area where there were existing records was resurveyed and those original records were found to be incorrect.

100m of Foul Sewer was surveyed in a morning with the outfall being confirmed onto the Main Sewer within the busy streets of London.

Guys will now be able to proceed with the building of their new 4 story building knowing where they will be able to tap the foul water into.
