Measured Building Survey of a Cinema, Cambridge

Overview

Terrain Surveys were delighted to undertake this measured building survey of a three-screen cinema located within Cambridge’s bustling city centre. This comprehensive measured building survey would support our client with potential redevelopment of the site.

The Challenge

The cinema was to remain open and operational throughout the survey, and we were to work closely with the client to ensure minimal disruption to cinemagoers, which was achieved by working around scheduled film times.

We were instructed to produce floor plans, internal elevations and sections of this popular cinema. We delivered detailed floor plans, from the ground floor to the fourth floor, ensuring all features such as fixed furniture, beams and stairs were shown on the survey drawings. Internal elevations and sections were also instructed, with our team producing these for each of the three auditoria respectively. We were to ensure certain building-specific features, such as projector portholes, were accurately shown on drawings.

The Result

Our measured building survey team unfortunately had no time to catch the latest blockbuster, but were pleased to deliver this comprehensive measured building survey within the agreed timescale and budget. We provided the floor plans, elevations and sections to our client in 2D DWG format, as well as providing point cloud data captured from site via our laser scanners. Terrain Surveys have proudly served the leisure and retail sector for two decades and we were therefore pleased to utilise our experience in this sector to successfully deliver this survey.
