Measured Surveys of The Jam House, Birmingham
Overview
Terrain Surveys were pleased to undertake this measured survey of The Jam House, an award-winning live music venue, bar and restaurant located in the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. The Jam House, which first opened its doors in 1999, is located within a tradition Georgian building, and was to remain operational throughout this survey.
The Survey
Our Midlands-based team were instructed by our regular client, an architectural design and development consultant, to undertake both a measured building survey and a topographical survey.
For the measured building survey, we were tasked with producing floor plans, elevations and sections of this landmark venue. All internal layout details were to be shown on the floor plans, including all of the vital structural and architectural features with heights and floor levels. Externally, we were tasked with producing 6 elevations of this handsome Georgian building, which would show door and window fenestrations, roof detail, stonework and drainage features. Sections were also instructed to provide of clear understanding of the structural arrangement.
As well as the measured building survey, a topographical survey was also instructed, which would show building outlines with heights, both on and off site, as well as boundaries, road levels, street furniture and service covers.
The Result
Terrain Surveys were pleased to deliver both the measured building survey and topographical survey on time and within the agreed budget, with minimal disruption to the operations of this busy venue. As with all projects, prior to providing the drawings to the client, they underwent our stringent QA procedures. Working on landmark venues such as The Jam House is particularly rewarding, and we were therefore pleased to ensure that the client now holds a set of highly accurate drawings, in both 2D DWG and PDF format, allowing them to move to the next stage of their project.
Should you be an architect with a requirement for a measured building survey or topographical survey, Terrain Surveys would be pleased to assist.
