Measured Building Survey of The Star & Eagle in Goudhurst, Kent
Overview
Terrain Surveys were pleased to undertake this measured building survey of the Star & Eagle hotel and pub in Goudhurst, Kent for our client, nationwide brewery firm W.H Brakspear & Sons Ltd. Dating back to the 14th century, the Grade II listed Star & Eagle enjoys a prominent position on Goudhurst’s historic high street and sits within Kent’s High Weald AONB.
The Challenge
Undertaking surveys within busy hotels, pubs and restaurants presents unique challenges. We were therefore pleased to work closely with the property manager to ensure this measured building survey was undertaken with minimal disruption to guests, visitors and staff. Over a period of three days, Terrain Surveys were tasked with producing floor plans of the pub and hotel, as well as external elevations of this Grade II listed venue. For the floor plans, our team measured the many rooms of this historic venue with our state-of-the-art laser scanner. The floor plans were to include all features of this historic building, such as doors, windows and columns, as well as all services and fixed furniture. In addition to the floor plans, external elevations were produced, showing details such as the timber frame, window and door fenestration and services.
The Result
Terrain Surveys were pleased to deliver this measured building survey to the agreed timescale, within budget with minimal disruption to the operations of this popular hotel and pub. Our team were able to utilise two decades of experience in delivering measured surveys within hotels, pubs and restaurants, which resulted in providing our client with a set of highly accurate survey drawings, enabling them to plan the next stages of their project, whether that be for development or conservation purposes.
