PAS 128 Utility Survey in Wandsworth, London
Introduction
As part of a regeneration project involving two south London estates, Toland Square and Aubyn Square, Wandsworth Council are proposing to build new affordable homes and make improvements to the existing outdoor spaces. To aid the design and planning for the improvements, Wandsworth Council invited Terrain Surveys to submit proposals for PAS128 utility surveys and topographical surveys.
The Challenge
Prior to the PAS 128 utility survey taking place, the topographical survey was completed first. This allows a comprehensive set of site drawings being available for the utility survey teams. Working with the park management, we agreed a work schedule to complete the survey work efficiently while causing minimal disruption to the public.
The Results
Working to the PAS 128 standard, our utility survey teams carried out PAS 128 Type B1 surveys across the two sites. Consisting of two survey methods, EPR (Electro Magnetic Location) and GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar), location and identification of all buried services was achieved. For the topographical surveys, our survey teams used total stations, with survey control related to the Ordnance Survey national grid using GNSS survey equipment. Once all utility and topographical survey data had been processed, a detailed set of 2D CAD utility and topographical survey drawings was delivered to the client to agreed timescales.
